Mijn Momentje keeps growing, calmly.

From now on, this page shows the current version, what changes and why certain choices are made.

The start of this journal

Updates are recorded here from version 1.96 onwards.

Earlier versions were not publicly documented on this website. Version 1.96 is therefore the honest starting point. Below are all updates recorded since then.

Latest update

New and improved in version 2.01

version code 101

Artwork stored more safely

Drawings are stored in internal app storage. Existing artwork is moved automatically when the app starts.

Backup for a new device

Artwork, stars and settings can move to a new device through Android backup. The error log and autosave are excluded.

A more reliable camera

On Android 11 and later, the app can find the camera app. Without one, the photo button is hidden. Photos are retained if Android closes the app while the camera is open.

Keep playing as the window changes

Folding the device, split screen, switching windows and dark mode no longer restart the app.

Parental lock with a number pad

Parents enter the answer using a number pad. Two incorrect answers trigger a 30-second wait.

Smoother saving

Saving and autosave run in the background, so leaving the app stays smooth.

Around 16 MB smaller

Find & Spot scenes, mascots, Riddle pictures and two badges use less space. Colouring pages are unchanged.

Updated build checks

GitHub checks use Node 24, pinned action versions and an extra check on Gradle files.

Improvements in version 2.00

Riddle pictures fit straight away

Answer pictures appear at the right size immediately, without cropping or shifting after an answer.

More reliable read-aloud

The app chooses a voice that works offline and preloads it silently. It reconnects if the connection to the speech engine is lost.

Full-size drawing scales together

The colouring page and the colours drawn on it scale together in the enlarged view.

Clear version numbers

Version names and codes now stay aligned: version 2.00 corresponds to version code 100.

Jigsaw and a new look in version 1.99.0

New: Jigsaw

Complete 12 original pictures with 6, 12 or 24 pieces and earn a Jigsaw badge. There are now eight games and 22 rewards.

A new home screen

Square tiles sit in one row in landscape and in a clear 2×2 grid in portrait.

35 colouring pages

Fifteen pictures were replaced by eight new ones. Preferences, favourites and saving goals for removed pictures are cleared once.

Earned badges stay

An earned badge is kept even if the game rules change later.

Undo on phones

Free drawing and colouring pages now include an undo button in portrait mode on phones.

Android 7.0 and contact

The app supports Android 7.0 and later for Google Play automatic protection. Its contact address is contact@mijnmomentje.nl.

New: Matching Pairs

Turn over two cards and find the pairs. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard, or take turns in two-player mode.

A new reward

Finding all the pairs can earn the new Matching Pairs badge. There are now 21 rewards.

More accurate Find & Spot

The improvement from interim version 1.97 was published in this release: one tap always selects only one object.

A clearer games menu

All seven games are now presented together in a calm and clear overview.

One object per touch

A tap or small finger movement can no longer mark several objects at once.

The best match when areas overlap

When touch areas overlap, the game chooses the object whose centre is closest to the touch.

The app better accommodates phone navigation bars and camera cut-outs.

Technical improvements

Memory use and performance have been improved further.

What does not change

The principles matter more than the version number.

New features must never undermine the calm and safe foundation. The same boundaries continue to apply to every change.
